Tyrannosaurus is a Tyrannosaurid theropod from the Maastrichtian age of the Cretaceous period, from 72-66 million years ago. There is only one species, T.rex.

Tyrannosaurus was added to The Isle on its release along with Puertasaurus, Austroraptor, Carnotaurus, Gallimimus and Shantungosaurus. It was immediately introduced as an Apex predator.

Though it is a popular pick in the Legacy branch, It has yet to make an appearance in the EVRIMA branch.

In Real Life[]

A large apex predator of Late Cretaceous North America, the Tyrannosaurus rex was the largest known member of the tyrannosaurids, weighing 8-11 tons, standing 4 meters tall, and measuring 13 meters in length. It hunted down a variety of large herbivores such as Edmontosaurus, Triceratops - all thanks to its crushing bite; estimated at 35,000 to 57,000 N (7,868 to 12,814 lbf) of force in the back teeth, which makes Tyrannosaurus rex have the most powerful bite of any terrestrial animal that has ever lived.[1] The cranial structure has been estimated to withstand forces ranging from 183,000 to 235,000N, appropriately distributed along the length of the jaw.[2]

As a Tyrannosaurus grew, it occupied different niches. Juvenile Tyrannosaurus were fast, preying on nimble animals such as ornithomimids and dromaeosaurs, before transitioning into the bulky, far less agile adult form. However, most Tyrannosaurs never lived to experience their first hunt, for their infant mortality rate was high.

Despite recent debate, Tyrannosaurus was likely not covered in dense feathering due to thermoregulation issues and the lack of evidence found on other Tyrannosaur genus (Yutyrannus is not a Tyrannosaur). Recent evidence also points that Tyrannosaurus was likely a slow animal; estimated by the anatomical dynamics and the animals overall weight, a study points out that Tyrannosaurus could run up to 30 KM/h; slower than a human, but still fast enough to catch herbivores such as Triceratops.

Tyrannosaurus is concluded to be a rather slow theropod, in fact recent estimations found out that a human could easily outwalk an adult tyrannosaurus; it was not an agile, pursuit predator.[3][4][5][6]

In The Isle[]

Overview (Legacy):[]

"A true force of nature, one of the island's largest and most intimidating inhabitants, the undisputed king... Tyrannosaurus Rex. Steer clear of this formidable opponent should you seek to survive."

-Official The Isle Roadmap

Tyrannosaurus is an apex predator, capable of hunting almost all of the creatures on the island, with the exception of the Puertasaurus.

The Tyrannosaurus's signature ability is a bone-breaking bite, which gives it a high chance of disabling other creatures' mobility upon being bitten. This allows the Tyrannosaurus to easily maul through ShantungosaurusTriceratops and even Giganotosaurus. Groups of Spinosaurus or other Apexes, however, can prove to be difficult.

The Tyrannosaurus's grand power is held back by its low stamina and it lacking stamina regeneration while trotting or walking, forcing it to be an ambush predator - only sprinting when it has to. It is a playable in Survival and in Sandbox in Legacy, however, it has yet to be released on EVRIMA as a playable due to the devs not wanting a powerful apex predator to destroy the ecosystem by hunting everything that has been added to it up to this point. It is considered for A.I. but the devs have yet to add it since A.I. is not working as intended.

General overview:[]

Pros:[]

  • 3rd highest Apex Damage as fully grown, (behind Cama and Shants stomp)
  • Quickest Health regeneration
  • Very high chance of Bone Break with bite (only adults)
  • Good ambush speed
  • High hunger time
  • The Sub and Juvenile have high Stamina
  • The Sub Rex is the most overpowered "mid tier" in the game having 4k HP with less than 3k weight, great stamina capacity with good regen (unlike alberto)

Cons:[]

  • The worst turn radius among bipedal dinos, which can even lead to it being killed by Utahraptor if given the chance.
  • Very bad bleed resistance and bleed regen. (1.5 per min)
  • Slow (5th slowest survival dinosaur). This paired with low stamina makes Tyrannosaurus ill-suited for long chases
  • Can only replenish its low stamina while sitting (Only an issue for adults)
  • Effortless to detect in most positions
  • Short ambush time.
  • Faces competition from Giganotosaurus
  • Bad reputation among the community - may result in being target killed
  • Sub-adult stage has very bad bleed regen even worse as juvie

Behind The Scenes[]

The TSL T.rex was a model purchased by Dondi from The Stomping Lands.

The Tyrannosaurus has the most models of any dinosaur in the game: the TSL T.rex, the default T.rex life cycle, the juvenile TSL T.rex, the Hyperendocrin Tyrannosaurus, the older life cycle featuring a slightly skinnier model, and the feathered T.rex.

Currently, a playable Tyrannosaurus is not in the dev's plans for the near future. It will be playable later down the line, as the devs stated that every dino will be playable and it has received an Evrima poster screenshot.

As of DevBlog #27, Tyrannosaurus get a secondary attack in the form of a head swing that will stagger or even knock down prey.

As of Devblog #33 and some confirmation by Kissen, Tyrannosaurus will be coming to the Evrima branch of the game as one of two playable apexes but only on community servers.

Roadmap:[]

Tyrannosaurus was being added as AI in "Update #4". However, due to A.I. not working as they like, they have currently paused the Tyrannosaurus A.I. until they can get A.I. working for them properly.
