Rugops is a abelisaurid ceratosaur from the Cenomanian stage of the Late Cretaceous. It contains only one species, R.primus.
In Real Life[]
Rugops lived in the Echkar Formation, alongside Carcharodontosaurus, Kaprosuchus and Laganosuchus. It is poorly known, with only a skull definitively known from the genus. It was probably a predator of small-to-mid sized animals, and likely scavenged the remains of larger predators, as well.
In The Isle[]
As of December 7th 2022, Rugops was confirmed to be in development with the release of concept art. Not much is known of its mechanics in-game but it's shown to be a small hunter/scavenger, hunting small animals such as Dryosaurus and even Humans.

Behind the Scenes[]
It was announced in Patch 0.1.15.4005 that the Rugops had completed textures and materials, and then not soon after in Patch 0.1.15.4095 that its vocal sets were complete. On December 7th 2022 behavioral concept art was released.
