Stegosaurus is a genus of stegosaurian from the Kimmeridgian and early Tithonian stages of the Late Jurassic epoch. There are three known species; S.sulcatus, S.ungulatus and S.stenops.

In The Isle, the Stegosaurus is a giant, lumbering herbivore. Given its size, It currently boasts the highest damage output in the game, capable of killing even a Carnotaurus in a single blow. Predators must think twice before hunting the Stegosaurus, for it is a force to be reckoned with.

Stegosaurus was added to The Isle in Patch 0.0.0.72, and was re-added to the Isle in EVRIMA Patch 0.6.15.18 .

In Real Life[]

Stegosaurus was a fairly large animal, with the largest specimens reaching up to 9.5 meters (29.5 feet) in length. It was herbivorous, feeding mainly on low-growing vegetation. The head of Stegosaurus was held around a meter off the ground and about 2 at largest. The brain was quite small in proportion to the body, with the brain being about 80 g (0.17 lbs) in an animal that weighed 4.5-8 metric tonnes (9,920-16,000 lbs).

Estimates for Stegosaurus gives a top speed of 23-26.2 km/h (14.2-16.27 m/h). The young were likely predated upon by Allosaurus and Ceratosaurus with the adults being much more difficult to kill and were more likely to be preyed upon by Epanterias, Saurophaganax or Torvosaurus, though it is importnat to note that none of this is confirmed.

Stegosaurus was well-armed to defend itself; the tip of its tail bore four sharp spikes, each between 60-90 cm (2-3 ft) in length with some possibly reaching up to over 100cm . This adaptation, known as a thagomizer, is common in stegosaurs and their relatives, ankylosaurs. However, some advanced ankylosaurids had bony clubs instead of thagomizers. Like ankylosaurs, stegosaurs had Osteoderms along their body & neck underside which provided a more heavily armed exterior to protect from both predators and sharp flora which stegosaurus ate.

The plates on Stegosaurus back have been the subject of near-constant debate since it's a discovery in 1887 with various researchers proposing them as defensive shielding, display structures, or many other uses. Even their placement has been debated, though most modern depictions seem to have agreed upon a paired row of alternating plates. These plates vary in size, with the largest plates above the hip being around 60 cm (2 ft) in width and height.

It is currently only playable in Sandbox in the Legacy branch but is playable in Survival in Evrima.

In The Isle[]

In the Isle, Stegosaurus are easily recognizable by their huge dorsal plates, long thagomizers and beastly temper. Their thagomizer attack causes high damage, as well as immense blood loss. In Evrima, the Stegosaurus has the ability to impale small carnivores, such as Utahraptor, using its thagomizers to swing and hit the target. Once impaled, it will stay on the thagomizers for a while then fall off. The Stegosaurus' preffered diet consists of Marigold for carbohydrates, sumac for proteins and pumpkins for lipids. Marigold can be located in the plains and jungles; Sumac can be found in the plains and in arid regions and Pumpkins can be found in every land biome, including jungles, plains and arid regions.

"This lumbering giant enjoys taking things nice and easy. It uses the threat of it's massive size and impressive weaponry to ward off most would be predators. Given its slow speed, it leans harder into fight than flight. Beware the tail! A well-aimed swing can be lethal. Although a fairly consistent sight on the plains, they can sometimes be found foraging on the outskirts of the jungle as well."

Pros & Cons[]

Pros:[]

  • Extremely high base and bleed damage.
  • Decent health.
  • Moderately high stamina.
  • Can defend from practically any angle with its tail attack (Its tailswipe combined with its make attacking from nearly every angle highly risky)
  • It can easily kill non-Apexes
  • Like the Ankylosaurus, the Stegosaurus cannot be tail-ridden
  • Can impale smaller animals on its thagomizers

Cons:[]

  • Slow stamina regeneration.
  • Head is quite vulnerable
  • Incredibly difficult to hide
  • Extremely slow trot & run, making it extemely vulnerable to every Apex
  • Will almost always lose to apexes in a fight.
