Albertosaurus is a genus of albertosaurine tyrannosaurid from the late Campanian and early Maastrichian of North America. It contains one species, A.sarcophagus.
Albertosaurus was a modestly-sized predator, typically about 9 meters (30 ft) in length and weighing anywhere between 1.3 and 1.7 tonnes in weight. Like other tyrannosaurids, the 1.3 meter long head is the primary hunting tool.
Albertosaurus likely hunted animals such as Hypracosaurus, Anodontosaurus and Ornithomimus by using it's jaws.
